"I, like many people, did a long research on where to go on our honeymoon. I looked into Maldives, Tahiti, and others. I came across a travel agency who suggested Qamea Resort. So I booked it and took the risk. Wow what a place. The service, the people, our room (honeymoon bure named Civa), the beach, the snorkeling. Don't worry about not having anything to do. You have options to always be active or you can just stay in your room and beach. I recommend our bure Civa since it is the last bure on the resort and it is very secluded and private. The food is very good and the service is great, everyone knows your name. We went on October 13 and stayed for 7 nights. If you can stay more definitely go for it. 10 nights would be sufficient. Also make sure you take the tours to the waterfalls, specially the coastal walk were the filmed the return to blue lagoon. Hope my review helps." - MrBajaCal (Tripadvisor.com)

"Qamea is in an idyllic location with lush tropical rainforests surrounded by gorgeous reefs. The thing that makes Qamea stand out from the rest is the staff - they are absolutely amazing & are warm, friendly and personal from the first time you meet them. There are plenty of fun activities included in the price of the villas and others you can choose to partake in others if you are interested- there is no pressure to do so by staff. The spa is beautiful - located up in the jungle, you can hear the birds are you are recieving your treatments. The food is awesome and very much in abundance! I would recommend making your way up to the restaurant for dinner as it has beautiful ambiance, especially when the local musicians serenade you! The beachfront bure is best reserved for a nice night as the rain can get in - also a candle or two would help create a nicer atmosphere - but all in all it was lovely. The beach is beautiful, particularly down the end where the royal bures are located. The snorkeling is among the best we've ever done. Qamea Resort experience in paradise

"My husband and I traveled to Qamea this past May for our week-long honeymoon. What can we say about Qamea? We loved it! I finally have the time to share a little bit about our experience in this paradise! Our most lasting memory: the time we laughed, played, danced, sang, and ate with the Fijian people. From the helpful and charming staff at Qamea to the welcoming and warm locals in the village we visited (Waibulu), the Fijian people are the most genuine, hospitable people we have come across with in our travels. The resort itself fulfilled our need and desire to get away from everything after the stress of wedding planning. It was like a little world in itself. We stayed in a beachfront bure for a few days and then enjoyed another couple of days in the more spacious, more romantic honeymoon bure. The main features we appreciated in the honeymoon bure were the hot tub, inside and outside shower option, and a large sitting area. However, staying in the beachfront bure the whole time would have been just as lovely. The food was tasty. There were many options to choose from. We never ate the same thing twice during our stay. Well, except for the chocolate chip pancakes at breakfast. We couldn't get enough of them! The staff was also happy to accommodate our special diet, since we can't eat certain foods for religious reasons.

Highlights of our trip:
- Snorkeling at Cabbage Path (We saw a reef shark!)
- Getting away from the resort and having a picnic lunch on this little strip of land surrounded by even more beautiful crystal, clear water
- Massages were AMAZING! (My husband has back problems and he left feeling 100%).
- Kava night (We spent time with the other guests).
- Village visit (Learn about the local lifestyle, plants. KAVA!)
- Bouma Waterfalls (MUST DO. There is nothing like the sound of waterfalls and the feel of them on your back. If you are adventurous, you can jump off the cliff).
- Watching the sunset and seeing millions of stars

Qamea Island... Beautiful Island, outstanding hotel staff and service

Qamea resort and spa is really one of a kind which makes it difficult to compare to other resorts and hotels. In a nutshell, Qamea Resort and Spa is situated in a unique jungle-beach setting with a caring, genuine, kind and attentive staff. The couples-only setting is excellent for a honeymoon or romantic get-a-way and the dinning accomodations allow for meeting others during cocktail hours if you so please, or enjoying romantic time with your spouse/partner in a beautiful setting.

We stayed in the Royal Beach Bure at the far end of the resort just by the jungle spa. These rooms are amazing, they are massive (large bedroom, large living room, huge bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower) and the pièce de résistance was the private pool, deck, jacuzzi, day bed, outdoor eating area, hammock, and daily drinks with cheese and tropical fruit platter delivered at sunset. Since we were looking for a romantic relaxing tropical paradise get-a-way; this room at Qamea really made our stay worth while. We highly recommend staying at the Royal Beach House if you choose to go to Qamea.

The restaurant and food at Qamea was excellent - I was very impressed with the food (I realize that "good food" is subjective, however, we are the kind of people who eat out often at trendy restaurants in Montreal, New York, and Boston and we also like to cook and prepare a wide variety of quality dishes at home - not to suggest we are food experts by any means, but just to give you an idea of what kind of food we consider good - and Qamea's food was great, with good presentation and excellent service).

The excursions offered by the resort are all excellent, the snorkeling and diving in particular are among the top in the world, the nearby Bouma waterfall hike is fantastic, and the honeymoon beach was fun (honeymoon beach = they take you to a nearby secluded beach for 3 hours on your own with lunch and drinks), you get to see the natural beauty of Fiji in a very private setting.

Lastly, the spa is really a unique experience in that you are up in a tropical jungle and you can hear exotic birds, the breeze on the trees, and the ocean down below. The treatments were top notch and was an overall wonderful experience. We went twice.

We had an excellent time and would recommend this resort to others based on the uniqueness of the resort, the amazing staff (I really cannot fully stress how wonderful they were), fantastic snorkeling and hiking, excellent food, and getting to stay in the real Fiji in comfortable accomodations. Qamea is worth the visit.

I came to Qamea with my wife on our honeymoon, and I have to say, we were VERY pleased with our stay! We wanted a secluded tropical beach setting, and trust me, this is exactly what you get at Qamea.

First, we were just so shocked at how QUIET it is here. We almost never heard a thing at night, it was just so peaceful with the moon and the water and the stars.

This was, of course, what we wanted: total seclusion. You are definitely alone on this big island. And, if you pick the right time to go, you might get the resort when it's nearly empty like we did. For a few days it only had 5 bures filled and we barely saw any of the other guests throughout the day. However, if you'd like to be social, they offer a cocktail hour before dinner with free appetizers.

Now, the reason that even a month after our stay I can still remember the names of the staff is that they were probably our most memorable part of the whole experience. I never would have imagined that the staff would be so personable, friendly, and attentive to our every need. It is very difficult for me to come up with any negative things to say about the resort, because whatever problems or issues we had were handled immediately. Whatever we asked for they gave to us. Maraia, the restaurant manager, especially did a good job of going above and beyond to get to know us personally and cater to our needs. Every meal time we were greeted with a friendly "Bula!" from one the staff and it made us feel very welcomed.

The food deserves special mention, since it constantly impressed us during our stay. While they don't give many choices, the dishes they prepare are elegantly presented, delicious, and encompass an eclectic mix of tastes and influences (Fijian, Indian, Thai, European, etc.). We feel that they did an excellent job of presenting local food with a gourmet flare.

All in all, I would definitely recommend Qamea for anyone who is interested in getting away to a remote beach, taking in some Fijian culture, eating great food, doing awesome snorkeling, and just generally relaxing.

My husband and I honeymooned at Qamea in early July, 2011. Our trip to Fiji was off to a rocky start after a bad hotel experience in Nadi and some ridiculous interactions with Pacific Air, but we arrived in Paradise and left all of those worries behind the moment we stepped off the boat at Qamea.

Besides the natural beautify of the island and immaculate grounds, the resort's greatest asset is the staff. The fact the resort is small and intimate, allowed us to quickly make new friends and we grew to know the staff very well during our 5 day stay. However, we quickly realized that we could just as easily be reclusive or interactive on a given day--which was great since sometimes we wanted to be social and sometimes we wanted to be honeymooners on our own. The bure was beautifully decorated and you can tell the resort is designed to give each couple an ocean/beach view with privacy. We enjoyed laying on the hammock on our front porch, watching/listening to the ocean, and dreaming about the future. The outdoor shower was a neat touch too.

We commented throughout the trip that it seemed every detail had been thought of. All of the activities were well-organized, efficient, on-time, and done with a genuinely caring and kind spirit by the staff. We hiked through Bouma National Park, visited a village on the island, went to the Pearl farm and snorkeled. The food was fresh, high-quality, and reminded us of how much stuff is processed at home.

Our stay at Qamea was the experience of a lifetime. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay perfect and we will forever be grateful. We left the island feeling like they were dear friends and look forward to the day when we'll return. We will never forget them and the wonderful experience they provided as we begin our life together.

Though I was excited about our honeymoon to Qamea Resort in December, I was also anxious about the few negative reviews I read about the resort before we left. If you are in this position, ignore those negative reviews—this was a perfect vacation experience...these people know what they are doing! From our sit-down orientation (where they explained how Fiji-life at the resort worked), to the beautiful grounds and rooms, fantastic food, and awesome dive shop staff, this place was fabulous. My husband and I are fairly well-traveled, so I don't feel as though we were wow'd simply because we were "young honeymooners" — we were actually wow'd! The diving was spectacular, and the dive shop staff (mainly Sam) were very helpful and obviously loved what they were doing. We will never forget this place—yes, it was expensive, but in this case, I feel that we absolutely got our money's worth.

We just returned from an amazing seven day experience at Qamea which included our wedding and honeymoon. First of all I am blessed to travel the world and stay at great resorts. Qamea is difficult to describe, but perfect sums it up the best. I've read just about all the past reviews and I now understand why so many have cried upon leaving Qamea. The experience at Qamea stays with you...the friendships, the staff, the beauty...I've never experienced anything like it.

Our wedding was beyond words! Another couple took our photos and they are amazing, although it's difficult to take a bad picture there. Qamea did everything to make our wedding perfect. There was no stress and it exceeded our expectations. We stayed at the two bedroom Royal Beach House which is amazing. If you want total privacy that's the Bure to stay in. There is no access to the beach like the other two premium villas. If that's important to you stay in the one bedroom Royal Beach Houses. They are beautiful and have a gorgeous, smooth white sand beach right in front.

The staff at Qamea is unbelievable. They treat you like family and really make the stay memorable. While at Qamea, one of the owners was there. He joined us for cocktails and appetizers every night. Sitting with all the guests before dinner every night was one of the best parts of the trip. We made new friendships that will continue long after our stay at Qamea.

The snorkeling trips at Qamea are a must do. The beauty of the ocean waters in Fiji are hard to describe. I've snorkeled in Hawaii and the Caribbean and nothing compares to the waters off of Qamea. The spa is also incredible and the prices are very reasonable.

All in all, this was a trip of a lifetime! Qamea is a treasure not to be missed. It should be on everyone's bucket list. We are already talking about going back for our anniversary. I can't imagine anyone not loving this beautuiful resort. My wife and I can't go a few hours without looking at our beautiful pictures from Qamea.

But the staff not only prepared us for our big day and took care of all the details but also had our bartender William take some of the best pictures I could have imagined! "Once you step foot on the Qamea Resort you are greeted by name. The entire resort staff knows your name and treats you like family. Since the resort only holds 36 people max, you feel like it's your own little island. The resort itself is beautiful! You are in a green jungle with colorful birds, lizards, trees and flowers. "You may have to excuse my long winded review, but I feel anything less would be an injustice to this slice of paradise on earth. From the moment we were collected from the airport to the time we left the island I can only describe our experience as one of true relaxation and satisfaction. I have travelled the world and originate from Australia (Brisbane) and have becomed accustomed to somewhat spoiling myself and my wife when we travel abroad. Never before have we experienced such an overwhelming feeling of friendship and genuine affection for our fellow travellers and hosts as we experienced at Qamea Resort and Spa. With Tracy and her team (big shout out to Percy, Miliki, Johnny, William, Louisa, Bubba and Mariaha) welcoming us with open arms when we landed, to the personalised service we recieved on our trip from the moment we arrived all the staff knew our names (incredible feeling), the other guests knew our names (printed in the daily Qamea times), it really gave us a sense of 'Cheers' where everybody knows your name! The genuine affection the staff showed and their beautiful nature gives you a sense of untainted humanity that has not yet been touched by mankinds imperfections. From the children of the village to the Chief himself we were treated like time honoured guests and integrated into Fijian culture from day one! The snorkeling would be the best in the world (that I have seen) with crystal clear waters and an incredible variety of fish species right on your doorstep (literally) that helps the hours melt away with other organised activities making the stay enjoyable but not flat out. The Spa facilities are second to none with the Paris trained staff giving me what can only be described as the most incredible massage I have ever recieved with skilled hands ensuring I left in a state of calm tranquility. The Food......WOW, the Food!.....Not one thing passed my lips that I did not like and fresh is a word that was heavily abused by myself and my wife during the trip. Virtually straight from the sea/land to your plate.... We even got to hunt Crab at night which was cooked up for us by the Chef the next day and was it spectacular! I know it must seem like I have shares in this place, but trust me, I don't! The accommodation was beautiful, the surroundings perfect and the weather was incredible all adding up to the holiday of a lifetime. We even got to make some valued frienships whilst we were there or you can keep to yourself if you want which is so easy to do in this idyllic place. We mainly did our own thing during the day then met up with other guests at cocktail hour to share our stories and spin a yarn or two and listened to the talented Band Boys play beautiful music (they even have a CD) and drink Kava with them. It feels as though I could write a novel about my experiences there even after 7 nights but as mentioned earlier, anything less than the above would be an injustice. In summary: Well priced, great food, reasonable drink prices, great activities, serenity plus, exceptional staff, cultural experience and the holiday of a lifetime. We will be back! "Qamea resort seems to make a very small footprint on the island overall, with lots of lush green to go around. As others have mentioned, even at capacity the place maintains an intimate feel. The bures are beautiful. Hammock and chairs on your private deck, overlooking the beach/ocean. Inside it was like a dream rental house. Full living room, bedroom w. a canopy bed that was the most comfortable one we slept on in three weeks of travel. Lots of windows, with shutters for privacy, a bathroom with two sinks, an outdoor jacuzzi and shower in a private stone walled patio. We made use of dinner on the beach. It was a nice option. Know only three couples a night can do this, so sign up in advance if they are busy. The st aff is hands down the best at a resort we've ever experienced. We found everyone to be exceptionally polite and gracious. We even had a few instances of people going out of there way for us. Snorkeling off the beach is fantastic. The waterfall trips were well organized and led. The diving seemed popular, but we are not divers. "We and our friends had the time of our lives during our recent trip to Qamea. We were so amazed by our experience and have talked about it with reverence so many times, that many of our friends told us they wanted to go. So, to celebrate our third anniversary, and the anniversaries of our friends, 8 of us came back to Qamea! The hospitality at Qamea is absolutely over-the-top. The staff is so warm and wonderful -- they call you by name and make you feel like royalty. This time it was delightful seeing so many faces that we knew -- and they remembered us! The food is first-class; the grounds are so peaceful and lovely; the bures are so private and a delightful haven to return to in the evenings. Each one is beautiful with unexpected luxuries and minute attention to detail in the design. The outdoor showers, alone, are like a private retreat to your own spa! And speaking of spa . . . the massages are the best anywhere! We dove almost every day while we were there, and the diving is astonishingly spectacular. Well, this time I cried even harder when we had to leave. I can't explain the profound depth of my feelings for Fiji and Qamea. I actually feel privileged and honored that Qamea shares their home with us. They totally spoil us when we are there.
